API Workshop – Tools for Consistent and Accurate Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories and Emission Reduction Projects
Through a multi-year initiative, the American Petroleum Institute (API) and its member companies have developed guidance documents and tools that promote consistent and accurate emission quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as well as emission reduction projects, from oil and natural gas industry operations. The resulting series of documents have received worldwide recognition for providing technically sound emission estimation guidance.
This workshop will focus on recent developments and additions to the guidelines series, including:
- The 3rd revision of the API methodology Compendium;
- Oil and natural gas industry guidelines for GHG emission reduction projects; and
- A joint industry association document providing technical considerations and calculation methods for addressing GHG emission estimation uncertainty.
The workshop will provide an overview of these industry guideline documents with an emphasis on their application to operations beyond the oil and natural gas industry, especially to those sectors that rely on fossil fuels for their energy sources.
